International Folk Song Festival

The Suzuki Association of Hawaii will be presenting a workshop, the International Folk Song Festival in March. It is an opportunity for students to learn and perform various folk songs from around the world, as well as learn the folk dance and background of each piece. It is open to all ages, beginner through advanced levels. All music must be memorized by the first rehearsal.

PERFORMANCE DATE: Sunday, March 10, 2013

TIME AND PLACE: 4:00-6:00pm at the Iolani School Lower Gym

COST: $20/family (payable to SAH- submit to teacher). Only open to SAH members so please verify that you are current on membership.

Two rehearsals:

Monday, February 18, 2013 (President's Day- no school), 4:00-5:30pm at Musicians Association of Hawaii, 909 Kapiolani Blvd. Park on Kapiolani Ave or NBC, do not park at Musicians Association Bldg.

Saturday, March 9, 2013. 4:00-5:30pm at Iolani School Orchestra Room, Castle Building.

Students will be divided into three groups: Group 1= Beginners, Group 2= Intermediate, Group 3= Advanced (Book 7+). You may not switch parts during the event. Beginner students can just play what they can. Older students must learn the harmony parts. If not sure which part to learn, please ask me. Please print out the music that you must learn and bring it to lessons. It's only a month away!
